E-Waste Drive

Strathcona BIA is holding its annual e-waste drive on May 28th, 2015. The drive will be operated in partnership with Free Geek Vancouver. SBIA is collecting your information and then on May 28th Free Geek will collect from your location.

The following materials will be accepted during the e-waste drive:

We Accept

  • Computers – working or non-working
  • LCD/LED Monitors
  • Parts of computers
  • Laptops (please attach the laptop power supply with masking tape/rubber bands if possible)
  • Printers
  • Scanners
  • Keyboards and Mice
  • Fax Machines
  • Modems, routers, switches
  • Motherboards and accessory cards
  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Computer cables
  • Cell Phones
  • Game Consoles, Cartridges and Accessories (Atari, Nintendo, Sega, etc)
  • Power bars, extension cords, phone cords, etc
  • CDs and DVDs
  • CPU/CRT combos (like iMacs)
  • Used toner cartridges (no leaking ones, please)

We no longer accept CRT monitors due to the extremely low likelihood of reuse, and for safety reasons. Therefore, please take your CRT monitors directly to one of our downstream recyclers, Encorp, at 1856 Powell Street.

We do not Accept

  • CRT monitors
  • Photocopiers
  • Telephones (We DO however accept IP phones)
  • Flash Lights
  • Electric Typewriters
  • Stereo Equipment
  • Styrofoam
  • Televisions or Remote Controls
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Copiers
  • Smoke Detectors
  • Appliances (including air conditioners)
  • Cash Registers
  • VHS tapes
